Intervention for alcoholics

Intervention for Alcoholics

An intervention for alcoholics is often the only move a family can make that will actually get their loved one to accept treatment. Many families have uttered the following sentiments..."we have done everything and said everything we can think of and no matter what we say or do, he/she will not get help". Sound familiar? Well, just about every family that calls us is in this same situation. Yet, as of the time of us posting this very article, we are holding strong at a 93% success rate.

An intervention for alcoholics is no different that an intervention for any other substance abuse. They should be well structured based on the family dynamics with two very important ingredients: love and respect.

Just like other interventions, an intervention for alcoholics should be timed properly. Most interventions should take place when the individual is going to most receptive. Usually in the morning for most people. An intervention for alcoholics will be no different.

All interventions need to be planned to the smallest of details. Remember, you are their to accomplish the goal of getting your loved one to say "yes". We do this by surrounding them with love and support in a way that they have never seen before.

It is important for many families to know that an intervention for alcoholics is not just for the alcoholic. The family needs this too. There is a very needed cleansing process that takes place in an intervention when they are done right.

My advice, don't take the planning process lightly. Prepare for every possible scenario. Base the intervention on love and respect. Read from a letter that you have written. Write the letter properly. Be prepared if he/she says yes or no or maybe. Have a center ready. Or call a professional. This problem could be over by the end of the week.
